Let's put a Zipper in a knitted Item...
You will need a Knit Picker! ( I got mine at Hobby Lobby.) and a zipper. (found mine in a stash in the basement). Also you need to check your gauge of your knitting so you will know where to mark your zipper for each stitch you will be knitting into. Mine came out to every 1/4". Lucky me.!! Now I have marked my zipper so I will know where to punch my Knit Picker to pick up a stitch. You will need to find some marker that will show on you zipper. (you can see a few different
ones in the picture below.)
I learned after trail and error ( lots of errors) that a plastic darning needle matching your needle size ( mine is a 5) worked best and then I just pulled yarn threw and and leave it for spacer while I'm knitting.
Then I would knit the first stitch with the loop on the sipper... knit to the last stitch ... and knit the last stitch with the loop on the zipper. Turn you work and slip the first stitch as to purl .... purl to the last stitch.....and slip as to purl. Repeat these two rows.
